Biblical Lessons to Learn on The Power of Praying Women

Has there been a time of your life of great grief or even of great joy? As you brought the matters on your heart to the Lord, what happened? There is so much power in prayer and if you pray regularly you know this. But what does the Bible have to say about the power of praying women? Here are a few lessons and verses to reflect on and learn from:

God Listens to and Rewards Patience

We all know that Abraham and Sarah weren’t as patient with God as they should have been, however, after years and years of prayer, asking God for a child, Sarah had a baby as we see in Genesis 21:1-7:

The Lord came back to visit Sarah as he said he would, and he kept his promise to her. At exactly the time God said it would happen, Sarah became pregnant and gave birth to a son for Abraham in his old age. Abraham named his son Isaac. Abraham did what God commanded and circumcised Isaac when he was eight days old.

Abraham was 100 years old when his son Isaac was born. Sarah said, “God has made me happy, and everyone who hears about this will be happy with me. No one thought that I, Sarah, would be able to have Abraham’s child. But I have given Abraham a son, even though he is old.”

God Delights in Your Praise

There are many verses throughout the Bible that indicate that God is pleased when we praise his name. From this verse, we see that those who have become complacent in their faith and forget to honor God need to be reminded that God will lift up those who praise him.

Rise up, you women who are at ease, hear my voice; you complacent daughters, give ear to my speech. In little more than a year you will shudder, you complacent women; for the grape harvest fails, the fruit harvest will not come. Tremble, you women who are at ease, shudder, you complacent ones; strip, and make yourselves bare, and tie sackcloth around your waist. Beat your breasts for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine, for the soil of my people growing up in thorns and briers, yes, for all the joyous houses in the exultant city. – Isaiah 32: 9-20

Prayer is Powerful in Groups

The Bible tells us that when we join together in his name, that God hears and listens to our prayers. Don’t be afraid to speak the desires of your heart or fears in your life into words among other believers.

They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers. – Acts 1:14
