Faith Fixing the Money Thing

God’s Laws Never Change

One recurring theme we find in the Bible is God’s wide expanse of resources and His desire for us to invest into His kingdom with our time and resources. Gary Keesee explores this theme in a recent blog post:

Did you ever recycle glass bottles?

When I was a kid, we would collect glass bottles and return them to be recycled. It was a moneymaker. Back then, my friends and I would get a few cents for each bottle we returned. We thought it was great—collect some bottles and make money to buy new toys. It was simple.

Those days are long gone. They stopped taking bottles years ago. Today’s bottles say No Deposit, No Return; you can put them in your recycling bin all you want, but you’ll get no return.

It’s not so simple anymore. Now, people think that you need to work hard and sweat and put in a bunch of effort, and give of yourself, making “deposit” after “deposit,” in order to (hopefully) see a return.

But that’s not how it works in the Kingdom of God.
