DIY at Home Valentine’s Day Date

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, but if you’re not already aware: it can be really, really expensive!

Flowers are marked up sometimes by 200% and the cost of dinner out, a date outfit, and everything else that comes with it! Before you know it, you’re spending way more than you would on a week’s worth of groceries!

If you’re on a budget, trying to save your money, or looking to have an enjoyable date that doesn’t involve crowded restaurants, here are a few ideas for you to try at home:

Fondue

You can purchase an electric fondue pot for under $20 (or better yet, borrow one from a friend!) and enjoy a romantic date at home. You can fondue for dinner, dessert, or both! Look up recipes for cheesy fondue on Pinterest or Google. There are hundreds of great recipes out there! For dippers, try day-old french bread, sliced apples, peppers, and even tortilla chips. For dessert, try a mixture of chocolate chips and a little bit of milk. Use strawberries, cheesecake bites, marshmallows, pretzels or anything else you’d like to use as a dipper!

Italian Feast

It’s simple, but it’s a classic comfort food for a reason! Nothing beats a delicious plate of spaghetti and meatballs, with a little garlic bread and caesar salad on the side! Don’t forget to light the candles and to serve something light and delicious for dessert.

Rent a Romantic Movie

Skip the movie theater and snuggle up on the couch instead! You’ll save a ton by renting a movie instead of buying tickets. Don’t forget to get $1 candy from the store and to pop your own popcorn!

Play a Board Game

While it might not scream romance, playing a board game is a really great way to interact with your partner! Try ordering a heart-shaped pizza from a local delivery place and just enjoy each other’s company.
